Assistant Director of Nursing
Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing
Compensation
Salary Range: $147,000 – $152,000 per year
Location: New York, NY - Onsite
Position Summary
As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will provide leadership, oversight, and support for nursing operations within a specialized children's center serving individuals with complex medical conditions. This role is responsible for ensuring excellence in resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and quality improvement initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary teams, you will foster a child and family-centered environment focused on safety, compassion, and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
Schedule / Shift
- Shift details: 5-day work week; hours vary based on departmental needs and may include weekends
- Hours per week: Full-Time
- Contract length (if applicable): Direct Hire
Key Duties:
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support for nursing staff while ensuring 24/7 continuity of care and compliance with clinical standards
- Oversee nursing programs, care planning processes, MDS completion, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities
- Manage staffing, scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and staff development initiatives
- Collaborate with physicians, families, interdisciplinary teams, and operational leadership to promote exceptional resident outcomes and patient-centered care
- Monitor audits, incident reports, medication errors, infection control practices, and corrective action plans to support quality and safety goals
Requirements
Education
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science Degree

Licenses & Certifications
- Required:
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
- BCLS Certification
- PALS Certification
- Additional certifications (if applicable): N/A
Skills:
- Strong leadership, change management, and team development experience
- Extensive knowledge of nursing operations, regulatory compliance, MDS processes, and quality improvement practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while fostering a collaborative, family-centered care environment
