Supervising Correctional Facility Registered Nurse (RN)

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for leadership and patient care? We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and confident Supervising Correctional Facility Registered Nurse (RN) to oversee nursing operations within a secure correctional healthcare setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse leader who enjoys mentoring staff, coordinating patient care, and ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence. You'll work closely with physicians, correctional staff, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide quality care to an underserved population while leading a team of dedicated nursing professionals.
Supervising Correctional Facility Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and support Correctional Facility Nurses
- Coordinate daily nursing operations and patient care activities
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders
- Monitor inmate health, perform clinical assessments, and respond to medical emergencies
- Coordinate physician appointments and follow-up care
- Ensure compliance with medication administration, infection control, and documentation standards
- Perform quality assurance activities, including chart reviews and incident reporting
- Maintain custody and accountability of medications and medical supplies
- Assist with physical examinations, diagnostic testing, specimen collection, and emergency care
- Train correctional staff on health-related topics and nursing procedures
- Recommend improvements to nursing policies, procedures, and patient care practices
Supervising Correctional Facility Registered Nurse (RN) Qualifications
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of 4 years of RN experience
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience leading nurses
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism, and safety
- Experience in correctional healthcare, emergency medicine, medical-surgical nursing, behavioral health, public health, or critical care is a plus
Supervising Correctional Facility Registered Nurse (RN) Skills
- Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) documentation
- Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) systems preferred
- Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word
- Basic Microsoft Excel
- Electronic charting and incident reporting systems

- Starting pay of $38/hour
