The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. PRIMARY NURSING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Staff RN III * Demonstrates competency in clinical practice; self-directed in goal setting in management of complex patients and families; utilizes the nursing process and is skilled at adapting care to rapidly changing patient conditions. * Provides safe, competent patient care; is knowledgeable of current patient care guidelines; communicates with peers, colleagues, providers and others. * Independently implements the nursing process for patients and families; integrates unit- and service-wide evidence-based practice resources into clinical practice. * Self-sufficient, competent and safe in the operation of unit-based patient care technology; efficiently operates the organization's computerized information systems; continuously develops personal practice competencies, skills and knowledge. * Delegates care where appropriate. * Serves as a preceptor for new employees and students. * Creates personal goals for lifelong learning and professional growth. * Conducts self-assessment of performance and identifies own learning needs * Identifies ethical issues in practice and takes appropriate action. * Refers to, consults with, and makes provision for continuity of care with other health care providers. * Uses evidence-based guidelines and policies to guide professional practice. * Participates in established quality improvement studies and/or activities for patient safety and quality measures; assists in continual readiness activities. Labor and Delivery * Maintains certification in NRP. * Applies the nursing process to assess and care for women of childbearing age, specifically low and high-risk antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients and their neonates. * Maintains competency in interpretation of fetal heart rate tracings. The Labor and Delivery RN will: * Serve as a key position of the interdependent team, and hold responsibility for achieving positive patient and unit outcomes * Coordinate the care of low and high-risk laboring women of childbearing age and the immediate stabilization of the newborn following delivery * Complete the comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs including but not limited to identifying outcomes based on the needs assessment, establishing care plans, monitoring the progress of laboring patients and modifying the care plan as needed. * Demonstrate commitment to the service excellence principles of the Northside Hospital * Communicate effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team and other disciplines regarding plan of care * Identify and document the needs of the patient and family and provide individualized education * Participate in the development and achievement of unit goals * Perform all other related duties as assigned including providing intrapartum, antepartum and intraoperative patient care REQUIRED: * Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. * Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training. * Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). * Other REQUIRED cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) are unit specific. Please refer to the specific clinical unit. PREFERRED: * BSN degree preferred * National Certification in Clinical Specialty preferred * Other preferred RN attributes are unit specific. Pay

Average Georgia Staff Position Pay

$33.31/hour
