<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Sep 13, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3>American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Labor &amp; Delivery / OB travel assignment in Eau Claire, WI, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&amp;D experience and active BLS and NRP certifications.<h3>Details</h3><ul><li>Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated OB/L&amp;D unit</li><li>LDRP-style role covering both labor and postpartum — RNs care for laboring patients, postpartum mothers, newborns, and couplets</li><li>Unit includes 8 L&amp;D beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 1 triage bed, and 12 postpartum beds</li><li>Unit delivers approximately 100–120 births per month (1,300–1,400 per year)</li><li>Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines</li><li>Common patient diagnoses include pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, postpartum hemorrhage, newborn respiratory distress, and routine pregnancy</li><li>RNs are required to titrate drips including oxytocin, insulin, and magnesium</li><li>RNs do not circulate in the OR or recover patients after general anesthesia</li><li>CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators are available on the unit for newborns and managed by separate staff</li><li>Fetal monitoring uses GE monitors with the Fetalink EFM system; strip interpretation is supported by tele techs on another unit</li><li>Charting is performed in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)</li><li>12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730</li><li>Self-scheduling with weekend rotation every 3rd Friday, Saturday, and Sunday</li><li>No on-call or standby requirement</li><li>Potential to float to other units as a sitter, in the same rotation as staff nurses</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)</li><li>Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)</li><li>Minimum 2 years of L&amp;D experience required</li><li>Comfort with neonatal resuscitation, labor patients, postpartum patients, couplets, and stable newborn care</li><li>2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the same specialty within the last 3 years</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Orientation consists of approximately 3 days: 1 day of online training, 1 day on the labor unit, and 1 day on the postpartum unit</li><li>OB/Neonatologist is not in-house 24/7; anesthesia is available in-house 24/7</li><li>Charge nurses may or may not take an assignment; travel RNs will not serve in the charge role</li><li>Nurse aides and surgical techs are present on the unit</li><li>Scrubs are provided by the facility</li><li>Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date, and hospital approval is required</li><li>Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate</li></ul>
