It seems that everyone who works here is so kind, compassionate, and helpful. As far as wages go, I was a traveler so I don’t know for staff wages. Management was compassionate and very willing to help and looked for opportunities for improvement. Small facility overall, but it was nice. Their cafeteria made pretty decent food too

      <h2>Job Description</h2>
      <p>American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with acute care and oncology experience for an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting, with proficiency in modified barium swallow studies required.</p>
      
            <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
            <ul><li>Work in an acute care hospital serving both inpatient and outpatient oncology patients</li><li>Caseload includes medically compromised adults, mainly with head and neck cancers</li><li>Average of 6-9 patients per day</li><li>Conduct cognitive rehabilitation, swallowing evaluations, and collaborate on diet upgrades</li><li>Day shift schedule: three 8-hour shifts weekly, Tuesday through Thursday, with potential for a fourth shift as needed</li><li>Epic EMR is used for documentation</li><li>Main responsibilities include assessment and treatment of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive communication disorders in adults recovering from surgery and chemotherapy</li><li>Coordinate care with dieticians and other team members for optimal patient recovery</li><li>Majority of work is performed independently; no new graduates considered</li><li>First-time travelers are welcome to apply</li><li>24-hour unit orientation provided at start</li><li>Light grey scrubs are required and not provided by the unit</li></ul>
          
      <h2>Requirements</h2>
      <ul><li>Active state SLP license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)</li><li>Current BLS and MBSImP certifications required</li><li>At least 1 year of experience as an SLP in acute care and adult outpatient settings</li><li>Experience with modified barium swallow studies, dysphagia management, and tracheostomy/ventilator-dependent patients</li><li>Ability to perform and interpret modified barium swallow studies and provide patient feedback</li><li>Knowledge in assessing and treating a range of communication and swallowing disorders</li><li>Strong documentation skills and experience with Epic EMR</li><li>CCC-SLP and FEES certification preferred</li></ul>
