Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM 
• 3x12 or 4x12 schedule options with 36 or 48 hour contracts available 
• 36 hours guaranteed per week 
• Every other weekend required 
• Work in 5S Trauma Stepdown (IMC/PCU) unit with multidisciplinary team approach 
• Patient ratios: Floor RN 1:5, Step-Down Unit 1:3 
• Care for multi-system-injured trauma patients and surgical patients 
• Float within scope to meet facility needs 
• Orientation held every other week on Thursday with 16 hours of orientation 
• 2 years RN experience required with 1 year in-specialty experience 
• First time travelers accepted if experienced in ICU/Trauma 
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, fit test, CPI (can be obtained through Qualivis) 
• TNCC preferred 
• WV or Compact RN license required 
• Skill requirements include IV start, vents, telemetry, Level 1 trauma experience, conscious sedation 
• Work with equipment including chest tubes, wound vacs, tracheostomy, PEG/feeding tubes, arterial lines 
• Manage critical drips: amiodarone, cardizem, precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, nitro 
• Handle epidurals for multiple rib fractures 
• Scrub color: Royal Blue/White 
• Use Cerner charting system 
• Free parking available 
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only) 
• Must live more than 100 miles from facility (75-99 miles considered case-by-case) 
• Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests 
• Limit holiday requests to no more than 1 of 3 major holidays

This Level 1 Trauma Center operates as a major teaching hospital and is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH). The facility features 855 total staffed beds and provides short-term acute care services. The trauma stepdown unit includes 37 total beds: 25 floor beds, 6 step-down beds, and 6 pediatric beds, offering intermediate care with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary support.

 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
