<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Sep 14, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU IV experience along with recent trach and vent experience.</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>Work in the Neonatal ICU of a children's hospital providing the highest level of care for premature and ill newborns as designated by the American Academy of Pediatrics</li><li>70 dedicated NICU beds within a 323-bed inpatient facility</li><li>Patient population includes neonates of all gestational ages, from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks</li><li>Patient ratios vary based on acuity, ranging from 1:1 to 1:4, with 1:2 being most common</li><li>Coordinate care for complex conditions including congenital heart defects, ECMO, respiratory distress and failure, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, and genetic/metabolic disorders</li><li>Perform tracheostomy care and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)</li><li>Utilize Cerner charting system</li><li>Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) 3x12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule, rotating every 3-4 weeks</li><li>Every other weekend and every other holiday required</li><li>No on-call requirements</li><li>Float to other critical care units including PICU and CICU with cross-training as needed</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active DC RN license required, or pending license accepted with documented application date and pending number (active license required prior to start date)</li><li>MD/VA applicants require compact or state license</li><li>Current BLS certification required</li><li>NRP and PALS certifications preferred</li><li>Minimum 2 years of NICU IV experience required</li><li>Recent tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required</li><li>Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood/blood product administration, and IV vasopressor administration</li><li>Experience with blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, and gastrointestinal care including tube placement/management</li><li>Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and sepsis workup</li><li>Experience with breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk</li><li>No license or background check hits allowed, with no exemptions</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Facility is a teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center offering full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists and pediatric anesthesiologists on site</li><li>Perform complex surgical procedures to repair congenital or acquired conditions</li><li>Scrubs may be any color but must be logo-free and child-friendly</li><li>Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate</li><li>Maximum RTO of 1 week; missed full-week time off must be made up at the end of the contract</li><li>No RTO permitted after initial offer</li><li>One guaranteed holiday with preference noted at time of scheduling request; second holiday assignment based on facility need</li><li>First-time travelers are not accepted for this position</li><li>Previous Children's National employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible</li><li>A photo must be provided upon contract signature if offered and accepted</li><li>Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation</li></ul>
