Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation offers a 31-bed Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (CIRU) which serves West Texas and outlying regions. Our CIRU provides patients with a personalized intensive therapy program focusing on increasing independence and safety needed to return to the community. The multi-disciplinary team evaluates the patient’s abilities and customizes a program to help reach their goals. Each patient’s progress is monitored throughout their stay focusing on medical management, self-care skills, mobility skills, communication and cognition. Discharge planning is focused on from the beginning of a patient’s stay to help prepare for a smooth transition. CIRU is staffed by a highly-trained multi-disciplinary team including: Physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Rehabilitation nursing Physical therapy Occupational therapy Speech/language therapy Respiratory therapy Social worker Clinical dietician
