This is a brand new hospital that was rushed to be built and had very little forethought when it came to ability to handle pt care. There is no division of specialty on the floors it’s either icu or acuity adaptable. So the nurses have to be a jack of all trades. Observation is nothing but a med surge overflow. It could be a good hospital if they took care of their staff.

 American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring 18 months of recent Emergency Department experience and multiple certifications.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Work in the Emergency Department in a hospital setting</li><li>Night shifts consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week, 19:00 to 7:30</li><li>Patient care in a fast-paced emergency/trauma environment</li><li>Use of Cerner EMR system required</li><li>Required to work every other weekend</li><li>May float to other units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed, though this is rare</li><li>Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays as part of schedule</li><li>Up to five days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved</li><li>Team-based environment with support for travelers</li><li>All travelers should be prepared to float within the facility or to affiliate hospitals</li><li>Participation in the care of a diverse, high-acuity patient population is expected</li></ul>
 
 <h2>Requirements</h2>
 <ul><li>Active IN or Compact RN license in hand by start date</li><li>Minimum 18 months to 2 years of recent ER RN experience required</li><li>Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC, current and from AHA or RQI</li><li>Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program</li><li>Experience with Cerner charting is required</li><li>First-time travelers are accepted</li><li>Local candidates are not accepted for this ER position</li><li>Perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month separation from work at the facility before being considered as travelers</li></ul>

Opportunity:

Job Details:
• Work 3x12 hour shifts per week with 36 guaranteed hours 
• Patient ratio of 4:1 during days, nights, and weekends 
• Must work every other weekend 
• Floating required to nearby sister facilities as needed (rarely occurs) 
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 
• 48 hours of orientation provided 
• At least 1 year of travel experience required 
• 2 years of nursing experience required 
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC 
• Cerner charting system experience preferred 
• Care for patients of all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics 
• Handle 150 daily census with 53 emergency department rooms 
• Skills required include care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insertion and maintenance, and triage 
• Experience with Level I and II trauma centers preferred 
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary 
• Indiana residents not accepted for this position 
• Must have Indiana nursing license in hand prior to start date 
• 2 supervisor references required 
• University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
