Johnston Willis is a great hospital. Coming from a small town where I was stressed and agitated everyday, here the doctors are better, the system for treatments and even the patients are better. I’m glad to have been offered a contract here.

The hospital overall is not the worst place I have been, but it is like the Wild West there. No one really follows the rules, and it sometimes feels like there are no rules. So, if you enjoy just kind of making things up as you go, this is the place for you!

The people are very hit or miss. You are “contracted for a unit” but are used as staffing for the entire hospital, mostly step-down. Scheduling is the worst. They don’t give you any say and you get whatever staff doesn’t want. Always being floated and/or given more patients then you’re supposed to have.

7:1 ratio with little to no tech/CNA support. Extremely unsafe. While they are trying to improve on that, and the staff are nice, I would not recommend this hospital at the present time

- RN LABOR DELIVERY (707) 7:00PM - 7:00AMCJW Medical - Johnston-Willis Campus VARichmond, VA  23235 Unit Information:  Maternal Infant UnitTell us about the unit(s):<ul><li>Number of Beds – 24</li><li>Number of Staff – 71</li><li>Type of staff:<ul><li>Day Shift – labor nurse, nursery nurse, OB tech, secretary, leadership, educator</li><li>Night Shift – labor nurse, nursery nurse, OB tech, secretary</li></ul></li><li>Patient Ratios – labor 1:1 (most of the time), post-partum 5-6:1,  nursery 5-6:1</li><li>Type of equipment –  GE fetal monitors</li><li>EMR – Meditech, CPN</li></ul> Must have: <ul><li>At least 2 years of labor experience</li></ul>Preferred or nice to have: <ul><li>2+ years of labor experience with a history working in an LDRP with high birth volumes</li></ul>List typical procedures performed on unit(s):  <ul><li>Vaginal deliveries, C-sections, antepartum patients.
