Phlebotomist

There are no CNAs so it is primary care. They have what is called “mobility techs,” but honestly it didn’t seem that they helped much and I found them sitting in the break room a lot. There is no break nurse so you break with a “buddy nurse” which means you or your “buddy” will have 8 patients when you take a break or lunch.  There is also a lot of charting expected and the charge nurse will audit your charting and be on you to complete charting if it’s not done by a certain time.  Also they do not offer self scheduling.  And they will often float the travelers at 11 and 3 because some nurses still work 8 hour shifts so the staffing needs change at those times. After working at many different hospitals, in my opinion Kaiser Fontana is at the bottom of the list of places I would want to work.

They do not care about their travelers. They make sure you know you are not welcome and they will run you to the ground and then be done when they decide they no longer need you and they’ll bring new travelers in. It’s sad. I had no desire to apply for the permanent position after my contract was up. I worked about 48-60hrs every week for them and they never cared to appreciate my time or efforts. Worst place I have ever taken a contract for.

No teamwork, no trust, poor communication. Lack of care or respect for travelers. Do not work here. The ratios were unsafe and assignments were extremely tough and dangerous.

Pediatrics

Travel nurses were treated terribly.  Charge nurses were rude and staff was deliberately exclusive.
