Key Duties and Responsibilities
Assessment

<li>Completes a thorough assessment of patients as well as surgical specific assessment based on need and utilizes critical thinking skills to direct appropriate care and treatments.</li>
<li>Completes and documents assessments in a thorough and accurate manner within the patients electronic Medical Record (eMR).</li>
<li>Assesses the need for patient and family instruction and provides necessary education.</li>

Planning
<ul>
<li>Initiates, develops, and documents the patient plan of care based on patient assessment and surgical diagnosis/procedure. Individualizes the patient plan of care based on changing clinical findings.</li>
<li>Interacts with other disciplines as needed to determine plan of care and to create a discharge plan.</li>
<li>Reviews and updates plan of care minimally every 24 hours</li>

<li>Provides safe and comprehensive nursing care according to state regulations, hospital policy and procedure and The Joint Commission standards.</li>
