Working here was like working in the dark ages. I always had 4 babies, vitals and fluids didn’t carry over, there was a wall phone in the rooms parents would call on and interrupt care time, the doctors were rude, there was no inline suction- you had to open a cannula just to suction your patient and the list goes on and on. There were so many obstacles to just doing your basic job.

The MICU nurses are extremely toxic! The hospital system is not nice to travelers either. I have nothing good to say about the hospital.

Your ratio is always 1:7 with no regard to acuity, I would have 3 ICU boarders and 4 ER patients at the same time. You do most of the respiratory therapist job with getting your own  ABGs and doing your own Nebs too. Radiology doesn’t get their own patients and you have to set up transportation for everything. You don’t get a break.
