Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg Neuro

Job Details:
• Work weekend night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM 
• Weekend schedule includes Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday 
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 for floor patients on a 20-bed neurological unit 
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission) 
• ACLS preferred but not required 
• Must have strong neurological nursing experience and proficiency with G-tubes 
• Recent EPIC charting system experience required 
• Care for patients with neurosciences conditions, DBS (Deep Brain Stimulators), stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders 
• Work with telemetry monitoring (RNs verify monitor tech strip readings in EPIC) 
• May titrate drips per physician orders including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, and others 
• Dress code requires any combination of white and royal blue scrubs 
• One shift unit-specific orientation provided 
• May float to other units (7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E) as needed 
• Holiday rotation required 
• Maximum 2 shift cancellations per 13-week contract 
• BSN not required but nursing license must be submitted

 American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with strong neuro Med/Surg skills, NIHSS certification, and Epic proficiency for weekend night shifts.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Position is in a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital</li><li>Primary patient population includes neuroscience cases: DBS, stroke, seizures, post-op spine surgeries, and other neurological disorders</li><li>Patient ratios are 1:5 to 1:6 on the floor</li><li>Weekend night shifts include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.</li><li>Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E units and elsewhere in the hospital, as needed</li><li>Epic EMR is utilized and recent experience with Epic is required</li><li>Telemetry monitoring is present, but RNs are not required to read strips</li><li>Unit is supported with charge RN coverage 24/7 and 3 nurse aides per shift</li><li>Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit</li><li>Travelers are required to participate in the holiday rotation</li><li>Dress code requires any combination of white and royal blue scrubs</li><li>Travelers may only work within WVU facilities for up to one year before a mandatory two-year break is required</li><li>First-time travelers are welcome to apply</li></ul>

 <ul><li>Active WV or compact RN license</li><li>At least 2 years of recent neuro Med/Surg RN experience</li><li>Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications in hand at time of consideration</li><li>Strong proficiency with Epic EMR and G-tube care</li><li>Ability to work night and weekend shifts per unit requirement</li><li>No previous employment at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years</li><li>Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (local travelers not accepted)</li></ul>
