The access to providers for support was great.  The ratios were high for a step down unit, making constant assessments and charting difficult to attain.

Abysmal staffing. No regards for patient safety. Staffs the emergency department like it's a med-surg floor. They don't use vital signs to assign ESI scores. Most of their senior nurses have left within this past year so they abuse travelers because all that they have left are new grad nurses with next to no experience.

Unsafe staffing ratios. No consistency in policies. Float mid shift. No block schedule. Cancelled contact before end date.

Hematology / Oncology

Nurse:Patient ratio is 1 : 7/8. The ER at times hold 50+ admitted patients. Expect changing every one of your confused patients alone because “purwicks are too expensive.” There are techs, but only 1-2 MAYBE floating around to help the entire department so you’re better off expecting to complete all tasks by yourself. Implementation of “chart reviews” and a chart “report card” is being done; where a staff is auditing your chart for all ESI 1 patients but there is no effort by staff to get a lunch break. 
The “expectation” is work 12.5 hours and if you request a lunch break the odds are one nurse is trying to cover your assignment along with their 7-8 patients as well.

Don’t Recommend

By far the worst er I’ve ever worked in. It is normal to have 6-8 patients. Zero help. You do every single task. No breaks ever. Acuity means nothing, you still will have 7 patients.

Stay away!!

this Hospital is the WORST place to work. the ratios are 8:1 with absolutely NO help. there are no techs, medics or LPNs to assist you to draw blood or do EKG’s. the Charge RNs and Management are of no use & don’t help you at all. some Charge RNs fall asleep at the desk while the whole ER is basically going up in flames. Also, more than half the ER is admitted patients so half of your patient load (4-5 out of the 8 patients you have) are all Med Surg patients & they expect you to complete all the pending admitting orders. So while your attempting to change 1/2 of your patients who are full of urine, bc there are no Purewicks available, all by yourself bc there is no one to help you turn the patient, you have to attend to the other 4 real ER patients & get the ER orders done in a timely matter. All in all, this place is a hellhole & just avoid working here at all costs. it is not worth the money or your sanity. ps… they are no lunch breaks & the room alarms/call lights are constantly screeching at such a  high volume that it will make you want to gouge your eyes out

Very racist and rude staff. Manager is of no help, takes side of racist staff and tried to make us so quit and when that didn't work they lied to fire us all. Would never return.
