<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Days, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Aug 24, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor &amp; Delivery/Mother Baby unit requiring 2 years of experience and the ability to circulate C-sections.</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>Acute care hospital setting in the L&amp;D/Mother Baby unit</li><li>8 total beds: 4 labor beds and 4 postpartum beds, with 2 labor beds interchangeable as triage beds</li><li>Nursery has 8 crib capability with stabilization and transport for higher acuity needs</li><li>Approximately 350 births per year (25-30 births per month)</li><li>Patient population includes gestational ages 20 weeks and up, with exposure to mag, insulin, pitocin, multiples, and VBACs</li><li>Typical ratios are 1:1 for L&amp;D and 1:4 for postpartum couplets</li><li>Uses Centricity FHM system for fetal monitoring and Epic for charting</li><li>12-hour day shifts (0645-1915)</li><li>Weekend requirement of at least 2 weekends per month (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days)</li><li>Potential for low or high census on-call assignment, which may occur rarely or weekly</li><li>Floating to MedSurg or ER as helping hands may be required for those comfortable, while remaining available for deliveries</li><li>Charge nurse role is reserved for permanent staff only</li><li>OB tech coverage available 8am-midnight but not overnight (12am-7am)</li><li>Providers and Nurse Midwives are on-call and available in-house as needed</li><li>RT is in-house 24/7 across the facility</li><li>Pharmacy is available on-site until 5:30pm with after-hours support through UHC Pyxis</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active WV or Compact RN license required</li><li>Minimum 2 years of L&amp;D nursing experience required</li><li>BSN not required for this position</li><li>Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring</li><li>Ability to circulate C-sections required, as staff may need to assist if the OR team is not yet present</li><li>Must provide an unexpired driver's license copy for consideration</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Provide direct patient care across labor, delivery, and postpartum stages</li><li>Be prepared to care for patients of any gestational age and manage high-risk conditions</li><li>Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts with a preceptor</li><li>Scrubs are provided</li><li>Work is incorporated into the permanent staff holiday rotation</li><li>Occasional overflow patients from MedSurg or CCU may be received depending on room availability</li><li>Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify as a traveler for this position</li><li>Previous WVU Medicine employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying as a traveler</li><li>Travelers are limited to a maximum of 1 year cumulative work within the WVU system, followed by a required 2-year break</li></ul>
