Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:
• Float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments across multiple metro campuses 
• Patient ratios of 1:5 across all shifts (days, nights, weekends) 
• Weekend requirement: minimum of 8 weekend shifts every 6 weeks (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday) 
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit requirements 
• 12 hours of orientation required 
• 1-2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted 
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS 
• Preferred certifications: ACLS 
• Must have Kansas and Missouri nursing licenses or compact license 
• Work with adult and geriatric patient populations 
• Required skills: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pre/post cardiac cath care 
• Handle patient diagnoses including sepsis, wound care, ETOH, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke 
• Work with equipment including Virtual Nurses, 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell 
• Maximum 7 days request time off allowed 
• 3 guaranteed shifts per 13-week contract 
• Epic charting system experience required

 American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit float pool position requiring a current KS or compact license, BLS, and NIHSS certification.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Work in a float pool across Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU departments at multiple metro campuses</li><li>Patient ratio is typically 1:5</li><li>Care involves MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown patient populations</li><li>Night shifts consisting of 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15</li><li>Required to work at least 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, including a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday</li><li>No on-call requirements</li><li>Will use specialized equipment including 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell</li><li>May be assigned charge RN duties or required to work holiday shifts based on unit needs</li><li>Will receive assignments as needed and not have a dedicated home unit</li><li>Expected to float among roughly five different units and between campuses as needs dictate</li><li>Opportunities for first-time travelers are available</li><li>Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted</li><li>No travel partners are accepted for this position</li><li>Completion of initial and annual modules (5-8 hours on average) required before starting</li><li>Negative drug screen required prior to assignment; diluted or positive results will result in cancellation with a 6-month waiting period before reapplication</li></ul>
 
 <h2>Requirements</h2>
 <ul><li>Active KS or compact RN license, with both Kansas and Missouri licensure or compact required due to floating expectations</li><li>BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS certification preferred</li><li>Minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience with at least 1 year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days</li><li>Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, pre/post cardiac cath, as well as patient care for sepsis, wound care, renal failure, stroke, AFIB, GI bleeding, ETOH, SI, and COVID</li><li>Two professional references required, including one supervisor or above from the past year</li><li>Must live more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates within radius are not accepted</li><li>Pending licenses will not be considered</li></ul>
