<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: May 25, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring 1-2 years of critical care experience, ICU skill sets, and an active WV or compact RN license.</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>Acute care PCU/Stepdown unit with 11-12 beds in a hospital setting</li><li>Patient population includes post-op vascular, hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias, CVA, sepsis, renal patients, stable acute MI, unstable angina, and post cardiac cath with PTCA or significant blockage</li><li>Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4; one PCT/CNA per 10 patients</li><li>RNs are required to titrate drips including insulin, Cardizem, heparin, amiodarone, and low-dose dopamine</li><li>Respiratory therapy equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow O2, mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy, specialty beds, and IV pumps</li><li>Telemetry monitoring is available 24/7 via a monitor tech; RNs are responsible for reading strips</li><li>Charting is performed in Epic; experience is required</li><li>12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays; large blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated</li><li>Travelers are required to float to Med-Surg Telemetry, ICU, or the Emergency Department to care for boarded PCU or ICU patients as needed</li><li>Charge Nurse ICU serves as a resource for the PCU; a Charge Nurse is assigned in PCU with patients; House Supervisor is available 24/7</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active WV or compact RN license currently in hand</li><li>Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)</li><li>Minimum 1-2 years of critical care experience required</li><li>Prior travel nursing experience required</li><li>ICU skill set required due to floating responsibilities</li><li>Proficiency with BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, critical drips, and post cardiac cath care required</li><li>CRRT and IABP experience preferred</li><li>Preferred experience includes arterial lines, post fem-pop care, post endarterectomy, EVAR, and TVAR</li><li>Epic EMR experience required</li><li>Submission profile must include 2 professional references (1 supervisor, 1 peer or additional supervisor), a skills checklist completed within the past year, copies of certifications, and a driver's license</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Orientation includes a general hospital orientation day, a full-day nursing orientation, a full day of computer/EMR training, and two 12-hour preceptor shifts</li><li>An abbreviated Initial Skills Checklist is due within 90 days of start date</li><li>Navy scrubs are required; scrubs must be solid color with no embroidery or patterns; approved outerwear includes WVU Medicine or solid-color fleece zip-ups in grey, black, navy, or royal blue; closed-toe shoes required (no Crocs)</li><li>Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from this WVU facility to be eligible for this travel position</li><li>Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before being eligible to return; cumulative time worked within WVU Medicine cannot exceed one year before a 2-year break is required</li><li>First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to the travel experience requirement</li></ul>
