Only part that was poor about my actual contract was the patient ratios 7:1 I absolutely loved everyone I worked with on my contracted floor. Being pulled to different floors was less desirable, but I felt like I had  tons of resources as far as doctors to reach out to and my rapid nurse was absolutely amazing. The contract was a beast with taking 7 patients was a very eye opening experience especially with the acuity of the patients, but over all my coworkers and manger was a blessing.

Med Surg / Telemetry

I worked on the 6th floor in need surg, the pt ratios were always high usually 1:7, and we frequently had one tech/CNA or none, and the charge nurse ALWAYS had pts, so we were usually left feeling somewhat "alone." However, I have never worked with a better team of nurses and techs, and somehow, despite always being short staffed, everyone was always ready to help each other and get thru the shift no matter how difficult. Truly a special show of teamwork on this unit!

I really liked my coworkers. The scrubs are fantastic and the first assists are incredible. They have every supply known to man and everything for positioning any type of patient. The layout of supplies sucks but you get used to it. The reps here rock. But no help to clean rooms or turnover, no floaters, had to call to get lunch or just refuse to get a patient and got my own lunch. I coded a patient and the charge nurse never left her desk. Just me and a PCT a PACU nurse and anesthesia coding. Call schedule was crappy and you would be at the hospital for 18+ hrs regularly for nonemergent cases. The charge nurses all hate the travelers and do everything in their power to screw you over. Tolerate surgeons who are the embodiment of living demons and HR sweeps it under the rug. Don’t go here.

Other departments get call in pay, and incentive pay the lab here does not because management misused these for so long corporate took them away. You will ALWAYS be over worked, short staffed and underpaid. Laziness and abusive unprofessional behavior is rewarded with better shifts and promotions. Management could not care less about you beyond how much life they can squeeze out of you, and go out of their way to be unreachable with the director stating he only come and goes through the back door so no one knows he’s there. Over all the most toxic job I’ve ever worked, akin more to an abusive relationship. A short stay here may be ok but anything >6months will become unbearable.

Poor management

Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS)

Floating policy is horrible. Patient to nurse ratios are very unsafe. 5:1 trauma PCU no tech. Float to all ICUs 3:1 ratio with 15 minute checks. Worst place I’ve ever worked.
