This could be a great hospital if staffing wasn’t terrible and the unit culture was better. Many of the techs and nurses have bad attitudes, and management does nothing to fix the issues at hand. Nurses are surged every day/night. Day shift nurse to patient ratio is usually 1:6, and nights is 1:7. Most of the units are staffed by travel nurses because no one wants to stay and work in these conditions as core staff.

I worked in the PCU at this hospital. By far the UNSAFEST hospital I’ve ever stepped foot into. 1:6 ratios with high acuity patients, we’re talking of the 6 patients you get, 3 are total care, 3-4 have drips, 2 have Q2 pain meds, there’s 1-2 techs for 30+ beds, no bedside monitors, the CNO does NOT care about the staff or patient safety at all to block beds for appropriate staffing and outcomes. I watched more patient deaths that could’ve been prevented than I care to admit. There is one doctor for the entire hospital on night shift, every nurse that works on the units here are burnt out because they’re all in the same boat. And for the crisis they’re in they sure as heck don’t compensate their staff or travelers enough for it to top it all off! They’re building a whole new addition to the hospital when they can’t even staff the floors they have with decent/safe ratios!!! Such a disappointment to see money take such precedent over peoples lives. HCA should be ashamed of how this hospital is run and how it represents the company (not that I don’t think they aren’t part of the driving issue but). I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this hospital to get treatment. You can find better jobs in the area, stay away.
