I’ve worked at 7 different hospitals and this was by far the best! They have every resource you can think of (phlebotomy, IV team, mobility techs to get your patients up walking etc), the charge nurses never have assignments, great ratios. My background is stepdown but I was on a “medsurg” floor and would have 3-4 patients on dayshift. you will never have more than 4. 3 central was my unit - I stayed for 8 months and LOVED IT. It’s busy but a great unit with lots of teamwork. Amazing hospital!

MedSurg 1:4 ratios. CNAs do all vitals and glucoses. Nurses focus on assessing, medicating and interventions. This place has lots of resources $$$. They had disposable pen lights in the clean supply, for instance. Many travelers stayed for several contracts of decided to stay on as staff.

One of the best facilities that I have ever at.  Excellent place to learn, they have lots of resources available so you can focus on patient care.  Nurse to patient ratios are great.

UVA is an awesome place to learn and work I have worked a lot of places now and it’s still my favorite! Plus Charlottesville is just a cool place too!

They pay peanuts especially for such a high cost of living the area is in. But the hospital is seemingly well run with safer ratios than most.

Ratios are great (ICU 1:1-2, IMCU 1:3, MS 1:5). The nurses can be a bit whiney just because they're so spoiled imo. Great resources. Easily available policies.

UVA Health is an incredible place to work. The pharmacy is inefficient with onboarding new techs. There’s no sense of urgency whatsoever. There are huddles several times a week where all PharmD’s and CPhTs get together for announcements and issues. It was cool at first but then I understood no colleague of mine bought into anything that was being addressed. UVA is in the middle of Virginia. So you won’t find any city folk working there and that’s a big issue.
