Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM for days, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM standard) 
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend (EOW) 
• May be required to participate in holiday rotation 
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3 (1:5-6 when floated to IMC) 
• Must have minimum 3 years of ICU experience 
• Must have balloon pump experience and be comfortable with ventilator management and drip titration 
• Required to titrate vasopressors, levophed, neosynephrine, epinephrine, nitroglycerin, heparin, angiomax, and other drips 
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS 
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently 
• Expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment appropriately 
• Floating required to any inpatient unit (travelers are first to float) 
• Care for patients with respiratory distress, post-arrest, acute MI, balloon pumps, ventilators, and patients requiring vasopressor support 
• Must submit copy of unexpired driver's license (50-mile radius rule applies) 
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs 
• Orientation: 1 day general orientation plus 1 day with preceptor 
• Charting system: Cerner 
• No call or standby requirements

 American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a WV or compact RN license and BLS certification.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Work in a 48-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute care setting</li><li>12-hour night shifts, every other weekend required</li><li>Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6-8 on nights</li><li>Common patient conditions include pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls, and weakness</li><li>Must be willing to float to other Med/Surg, Med/Surg-Tele, or IMC units for lower acuity patients as needed</li><li>Uses Cerner Soarian for charting</li><li>Monitor techs read telemetry strips; nurses are not required to interpret telemetry</li><li>No call or on-call requirements</li><li>Responsible for titrating certain drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix, but not cardiac drips</li><li>RNs monitor respiratory equipment, with the respiratory team managing administration and maintenance</li><li>Support staff includes patient care techs with a 1:10-12 ratio performing vitals, EKGs, and patient care tasks</li><li>Charge nurse present each shift; may take a patient assignment depending on staffing</li><li>May be included in holiday rotation according to unit guidelines</li><li>No self-scheduling; schedules are created by the manager with consideration for requested time off</li><li>Dress code requires navy blue scrubs for RNs</li><li>One day of EMR/computer orientation and one day with a preceptor provided</li><li>First-time travelers are welcome to apply</li><li>Travelers who have worked within the WVU system must observe a 2-year break before returning as a traveler, and travelers may not work more than one year cumulatively within the system before a 2-year break is required</li></ul>
