I was float ICU. Not the worst place to work, but I was definitely ready to leave. I thought it would be more fancy because it was Yale. It was just like any other hospital. EP was the worst place though. They work those nurses to death.

YNHH L&D has great staff. The hospital has many travel RNs that pass through, and they have a specific travel orientation to the hospital, in addition to orienting on the floor for 3 shifts. I received all of my requests in my contract, and my requests for the schedule were also honored. The staff is friendly, and welcoming. I had an educator follow me to help me stay compliant. The policies at yale are very strict, and reduce RN autonomy. The relationship between L&D and PP is terrible. Otherwise it’s great. They are rebuilding their unit, and regularly hire travelers. They have residents, several midwife groups, and deliver around 4K babies a year. Very busy teaching hospital. Oh, the cafe is open during night shift, and the amount of good food in the area to order is fantastic.

They are committing wage theft by not paying nurses if they clock no break in the ED (which you never get breaks with a 6:1 patient ratio) and are committing numerous OSHA and labor law violations
