Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

This position is for an Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing high-quality care in a dynamic environment. The RN will have experience in both emergency and medical-surgical settings, ensuring efficient patient assessment, triage, and treatment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room, assessing and monitoring patients' conditions.
• Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Assist in various procedures as needed while maintaining a high level of patient safety.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members as required.

Shift Details

Shifts are 12 hours in length, rotating between day and night schedules. Weekend work will be required every other week, along with holiday coverage based on scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting.
• Previous experience in a medical-surgical unit is preferred.
• Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
• PALS is preferred but not mandatory.

Working Environment

The facility operates as a Trauma Level IV center with capabilities to receive STEMI patients and provide stroke care. The Emergency Room consists of 4 beds and 2 trauma bays, with a mix of patient types handled within the unit. The RN will work closely with an ED physician and other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal care.

Additional Information

Nursing staff will be required to read telemetry strips, and while there is no Respiratory Therapy available on-site 24/7, RNs are expected to troubleshoot relevant equipment as necessary.

Staff may float between the Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical areas as needed, with navy blue scrubs being the designated dress code.
