Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients with high-acuity diagnoses in a 16-bed MICU.
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 based on patient acuity.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment such as CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and provide care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Perform arterial line and central line management, continuous IV sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs).
• Implement isolation precautions/PPE and follow nurse-driven ECMO protocols.
• Monitor Central Venous Pressure (CVP) and administer blood products.
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and fresh tracheostomy care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and more.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
• Experience with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2.
• Proficiency in EPIC charting system.
• Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and continuous IV sedation.
• Skills in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ventilator care.
• Competence in interpreting Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) and performing suctioning (ETT, NT).
• Capability to perform phlebotomy and manage acute stroke and CVA.
