Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Nurse – Psychiatric to provide high-quality care in a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) within an outpatient behavioral health setting. The RN will work with individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crises or substance use challenges, providing short-term, intensive care designed to stabilize patients and prevent unnecessary hospitalization.

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced behavioral health environment, delivering comprehensive assessments, medication management, and therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities: Patient Care

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health assessments.
Provide direct nursing care to individuals experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises.
Monitor patient condition and respond to behavioral or psychiatric changes promptly.
Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
Crisis Stabilization

Support stabilization of patients within a 3–5 day treatment window.
Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
Assist in developing individualized care plans focused on patient stabilization and recovery.
Collaboration & Coordination

Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including behavioral health clinicians, physicians, and support staff.
Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans and treatment progress.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately in the medical record.
Additional Duties

Maintain compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Support safe therapeutic environments for patients and staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:

Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Experience

Prior Psychiatric or Behavioral Health nursing experience required.
Experience in crisis intervention or acute behavioral health settings preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Skills

Strong crisis management and de-escalation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to assess psychiatric conditions and respond quickly to patient needs.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Certifications & Licensure

Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Massachusetts.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Work Environment

The Crisis Stabilization Unit provides short-term intensive mental health support as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization. Patients typically remain in the program for 3 to 5 days, receiving focused care that includes assessment, medication management, and therapeutic support.
