Job Summary
The Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to adult patients undergoing cancer treatment. This role involves administering chemotherapy, managing treatment-related side effects, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients in an acute care setting
Safely administer chemotherapy and other oncology-related medications in compliance with established protocols
Monitor patients for treatment reactions and complications, intervening promptly as needed
Perform detailed patient assessments and document clinical findings accurately
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and symptom management
Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
Maintain compliance with safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements
Support patient comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being throughout treatment
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where care is provided
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Current Chemotherapy certification (ONS / Chemo-certified)
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in Oncology or Hematology nursing
Strong IV therapy and venous access skills
Experience managing chemotherapy side effects and symptom control
Excellent communication, documentation, and patient education skills
