Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in special education from an accredited program.
• Valid South Carolina special education certification or state-required credential.
• Experience teaching in at least one of the following settings: multi-categorical elementary classroom, middle school resource classroom, or emotional disturbance (ED) class in an alternative school.
• Demonstrated ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and conduct progress monitoring and assessments.
• Classroom management skills appropriate for diverse needs and behavioral supports.
• Experience collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
• Current required clearances and background checks as required by state and local education authorities.
• Preferred: Experience with assistive technology, differentiated instruction strategies, and data-driven individualized interventions.
