Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 18:45–07:15) | Onsite | 13–20 Week Contracts | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week Accepted
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1:5–6, managing diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, anemia, encephalopathy, hip fracture, and COVID-19
- Perform telemetry monitoring including remote monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and utilization of Rapid Response Team protocols
- Administer blood products, manage IV insulin protocols, heparin, and PCA pumps, and perform central line blood draws, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
- Provide wound care including wound vac management, colostomy care, feeding tube care, and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Manage respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, oxygen face masks, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management
- Adhere to isolation precautions, float to other units as needed, and participate in storm, hurricane, or disaster response teams as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact nursing license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
- Proficiency in telemetry/remote monitoring, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), and IV therapy including starting IVs and PICC line management
- Availability for full hospital orientation during week one, including daily required classes, and completion of pre-start online modules prior to start date
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, port access, surgical drains, tracheostomy management, and interpretation of ABGs
- Background in CVA patient care and insulin management
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records documentation
- Experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry or stepdown environment
