Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 4 total weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday shifts based on unit coverage needs
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2 with high number of 1:1 assignments
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units (4:1 ratio on tele) - travelers float first before permanent staff
• May be required to float to Westgate campus when needed
• 2-day floor-specific orientation required
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Pass/fail SIMs Lab on day 1 for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Strong IV skills required as there is no IV team
• Experience with high acuity patients including IABP, CABG, CRRT, ECMO, and transplant patients
• Handle bedside procedures including bronchs, Swan catheters, and epidurals
• Work with cardiac surgery recovery, thoracic procedures, TAVR, and transplant patients
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (CCRN preferred)
• ICU experience required, CVICU experience preferred
• Level 2 experience accepted from teaching/high acuity/large hospitals
• First time travelers accepted
• Must have own vehicle for travel
• Navy scrubs required
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings required
• Men must be clean shaven for fit testing
• Use Cerner EMR system and Phillips telemetry
• Charge nurse opportunities available with no patient assignment

This Level 1 trauma center operates a 24-bed CTICU/CVICU unit providing high-acuity cardiac and thoracic surgical care. The facility features comprehensive specialty services including transplant programs, advanced cardiac procedures, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support. The acute care setting maintains intensivist coverage during days with on-call availability at night, supporting complex patient cases including ECMO, transplant recipients, and advanced cardiac interventions.
