Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday coverage as needed to meet unit needs
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 on 33-bed stepdown unit
• Care for patients from young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses including sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex medical issues
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin
• Must read and interpret telemetry strips
• May float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care units
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass 90% open book skills exam on Friday during orientation or face contract termination
• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
• Orientation includes first week classroom training followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts on the floor
• Use EPIC charting system
• Work with BiPAP and Airvo respiratory equipment
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• Must live more than 50 miles from facility and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit facilities
• Driver's license required at submittal to verify distance requirement

Facility:

This healthcare facility operates a busy 33-bed stepdown unit that provides intermediate care between intensive care and medical-surgical units. The facility utilizes EPIC charting systems and maintains modern respiratory equipment including BiPAP and Airvo devices. The stepdown unit experiences high patient flow with frequent admissions and discharges, requiring nurses to demonstrate strong teamwork skills and maintain a positive, can-do attitude while providing excellent patient care through bedside reporting and hourly rounding.
