Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic/Neuro

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts: Days 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or Nights 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM with 30-minute lunch break
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Days: Saturday/Sunday, Nights: Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday work may be required based on unit needs
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Care for 33-bed unit with all private rooms
• EPIC experience required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Must have experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps
• Care for patients with elective surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, back & neck neurosurgeries, and general medical-surgical conditions
• Manage IV fluids and PCA pumps (no titration of drips required)
• May float to other medical-surgical units as needed (travelers are first to float)
• Royal blue scrubs required (scrub jackets must also be royal blue if worn)
• 2-day orientation: 1 day EPIC training, 1 day floor orientation with preceptor, independent by day 3
• Must submit unexpired driver's license copy with application
• May be called off for low census depending on contract terms
• Client may cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment or 1 shift for shorter assignments

Facility:

This medical center operates a 33-bed orthopedic and neurosurgical unit featuring all private rooms and maintains a 24/7 charge nurse coverage model. The facility utilizes EPIC charting system and provides comprehensive support services including respiratory therapy for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen management. The unit focuses on orthopedic and neurosurgical care with patient care technicians available to assist with vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, activities of daily living, and Foley catheter discontinuation.
