Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement based on staffing needs
• Holiday rotations required
• No call or standby requirements
• 3:1 nurse to patient ratio with clinical associate assistance
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Floating required on rotational basis with other unit staff
• Must have strong assessment skills and adaptability to fast-paced work environment
• Required to titrate drips including cardizem, labetalol, and amiodarone
• Basic EKG interpretation skills needed
• Experience with respiratory compromised patients, BiPap management, blood gas interpretation
• Work with tracheostomies and chronic vent dependent patients
• Provide care for brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures and complex trauma patients
• Assist with reconstructive plastic surgery and microvascular free flaps
• Advanced diabetic management for type 1 and type 2 patients
• Complex wound management and general surgical interventions
• 24-hour hemodynamic monitoring capabilities
• EPIC charting system used
• Unit-specific orientation provided with clinical preceptor
• 2 shifts per 13-week contract cancellation policy

This healthcare facility features a state-of-the-art 24-bed stepdown unit with spacious private rooms and advanced monitoring capabilities. The facility serves as a Level 1 Trauma Center, the only one in West Virginia, specializing in complex medical, surgical, and trauma patients. The unit is equipped with 11 rooms featuring in-ceiling lifts to promote early patient mobilization and provides exceptional learning opportunities for both seasoned and new graduate nurses. The facility maintains 24/7 telemetry monitoring with dedicated monitor technicians and video monitoring for patient safety.
