Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum of 2 holidays required during contract timeframe
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5 for both day and night shifts
• 40-bed unit with average daily census of 24 patients
• Care for adult patients with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, respiratory conditions, stroke, post stent, and post pacer placement
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Must be competent in arterial lines
• Required to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Float to Med/Surg or ICU to take PCU acuity patients as needed
• Pass mandatory open book exam on Wednesdays during orientation with 90% score required
• Navy blue scrubs required
• One day of unit-specific orientation
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius
• Artificial nails prohibited
• Use EPIC charting system
• RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract)
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

This healthcare facility operates a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit providing intermediate-level care between general medical floors and intensive care units. The facility serves diverse cultural populations and focuses on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications. The unit is equipped with modern technology including overhead lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners, maintaining Level 2 trauma designation in an acute care setting.
