RN - ER

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Required to work 2 out of 6 weekends
• Holiday requirements with potential for requested time off if given advance notice
• First to float based on staffing needs and skill set to Medical Surgical unit or for behavioral patient support
• No call requirements with overtime opportunities available
• Handle diverse patient population treating 8-25 patients per day
• Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4 for stable patients, 1:1 or 1:2 for critically ill patients
• Must be able to mix own medications and assist with respiratory medications, equipment, and intubations
• Required to read and interpret EKG strips
• Responsible for blood draws from IV starts when indicated
• Handle common diagnoses including acute illness, severe injuries, chest pain, respiratory distress, neurological emergencies, allergic reactions, infectious diseases, psychiatric emergencies, and various traumas
• Work with common drips: Insulin, Heparin, Levofed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Propofol
• 2 years of experience required with travel experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Minimum 2 days of unit-specific orientation
• Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, effective communication, adaptability, teamwork, empathy, clinical competence, time management, and professionalism
• Work in fast-paced environment with 6 beds/trauma bays
• No separate triage area - travelers will triage patients
• Charting system: MEDITECH

Facility:

This Critical Access Hospital provides comprehensive emergency services with a full radiology department adjacent to the emergency department, featuring X-ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound capabilities. The facility operates with one physician or mid-level provider on staff 24/7, with a second provider available from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily. The emergency department includes respiratory therapy equipment such as BiPap, ventilators, Glidescope, heated high flow, and bubble CPAP, with respiratory therapy available in-house from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on-call 24/7.
