Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Day shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, Night shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Must be clocked in and ready to work by 6:45 AM
• Patient ratios typically 1:2, sometimes 1:1 based on acuity, occasionally 1:3 for post cath lab patients
• Work in 9-bed ICU unit with average daily census of 6 patients
• Minimum of 3 nurses staffed per shift, sometimes 4
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS (PALS may be negotiable)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
• Must be independent and comfortable with skill level
• Charge nurse responsibilities include full patient load
• Navy scrubs required
• Use MEDITECH Expanse EMR system and Pyxis charting system
• Work with Neon Kohden monitors and Avea ventilators
• Handle all drips and manage various medical ICU conditions
• Travelers are first to float to Medical, Surgical, IPRU, or ER for tasks
• 2-shift orientation with preceptor after initial HR meeting
• Schedule made 6 weeks in advance with staff input
• Work holidays integrated into permanent staff rotation

Facility:

This regional medical center operates a 9-bed intensive care unit that primarily serves as a medical ICU, treating patients with conditions such as pneumonia, sepsis, acute renal failure, CHF, and COPD. The facility provides comprehensive cardiac services including post-catheterization care and cardiac drip management. The ICU also handles post-operative patients from major surgeries and manages extubation cases. The unit maintains 24/7 respiratory therapy support and has hospitalists available in-house during the day with on-call coverage at night.
