Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Manage 1:5-6 nurse to patient ratios on 55-bed unit
• Care for patients with joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
• Titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; manage PCA pumps
• Work every other weekend with additional coverage as needed based on department demand
• Required to work 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's
• May float to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• Must pass open book exam on Friday during orientation with 90% or higher score
• Two days of unit-specific orientation provided
• Must live more than 50 miles from facility and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit facilities
• Driver's license required at submittal for distance verification
• Focus on hourly rounding, responsiveness, and managing multiple discharges and admissions daily
• Serve diverse patient population including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speaking patients
• BLS (AHA) certification required, ACLS preferred
• Use EPIC charting system
• RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract)
