Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Assigned to 4th Floor North & South Medical Telemetry/Orthopedic unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 with 55-bed unit
• Care for patients with joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
• Required to titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips as well as manage PCA pumps
• Must have telemetry awareness and basic strip reading skills
• Weekend requirements typically every other weekend with additional coverage as needed
• Holiday requirements include 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's
• May float to other medical surgical areas or units with med-surg patients
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) required, ACLS preferred
• Must pass open book skills exam on Friday during orientation with 90% score to continue
• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs for RNs
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove results in contract termination
• Two days of unit-specific orientation provided
• Must use EPIC charting system
• Focus on hourly rounding, responsiveness, and managing multiple discharges and admissions daily
• Serve diverse patient population including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speaking patients
• Must live outside 50-mile radius and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit facilities
