RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM or 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio for both day and night shifts
• 55-bed PCU unit on 4th Floor East Wing
• Adult patient population, occasionally pediatric patients 15 years and older
• Must pass open book exam during orientation with 90% score requirement
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Telemetry competency required
• Driver's license required for submittal
• Must live outside 50-mile radius of facility
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove leads to contract termination
• Float to medical-surgical areas as needed based on highest demand
• Work with EPIC charting system and Alaris IV pumps
• Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, subdural hematoma
• Manage PCA pumps, cardizem, insulin drips
• Access to mechanical lifts and support from nursing assistants, charge nurses, educators
• Focus on hourly rounding and patient responsiveness
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

This Level 1 trauma center operates as a comprehensive acute care facility with a 55-bed progressive care unit specializing in telemetry monitoring and step-down care. The facility utilizes EPIC electronic medical records and maintains modern medical equipment including Alaris IV pumps and mechanical lifts. The PCU provides an intermediate level of care between intensive care and general medical floors, supported by a multidisciplinary team including educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and rehabilitation specialists.
