RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83%) before signing contract with three attempts allowed
• Position will float between Bryan and College Station campus (16 minutes apart)
• May float to assist other units as needed without taking patient assignment
• 2+ years of ER experience required with similar patient volume and trauma level
• Must be comfortable with central line placement, MTP, chest tubes, trauma, STEMIs, and strokes
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: general acute care 1:3-4, Level I traumas 1:1 or 2:1, vertical care 1:6-8
• Work with typical ER patients including trauma, chest pain, pediatric cases (10-15% of patient population)
• Experience with chest tubes, rapid transfusions, and intubated patients required
• 3-shift orientation in the ER
• Dress code: Navy scrubs with navy undershirts, optional navy scrub jackets
• Holiday requirement: rotate with core staff for 1 major holiday
• Call outs strongly discouraged and could lead to termination
• Use MEDITECH charting system

Facility:

This regional healthcare center operates as a Level III Trauma facility and Primary Stroke Center with comprehensive capabilities. The emergency department features 30 beds with 2 trauma bays and a "vertical care" fast track area. The facility treats approximately 135 patients daily and serves as the highest trauma center in the region, covering 9 counties with their own EMS agency and helicopter service. The department maintains 24/7 physician and mid-level coverage with respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, and security support.
