Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• 13-26 week assignment accepted
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity
• Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible)
• Follow unit rotation for floating - not first to float
• Minimum 2 years cardiac floor experience required
• Travel experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months cardiac experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include cardiac telemetry, PCU/stepdown, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization, cardiac drip management and titration, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway management
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience
• Work with special equipment including doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Use EPIC documentation system and Pyxis medication system
• 24-hour orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required
• Must be available for Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Cannot work more than 5 days in a row or more than 60 hours per week
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Interview required for all candidates

The 44-bed unit maintains a daily census of 41 patients and offers full interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
