Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required with previous charge experience required
• Must be flexible with weekend requirements - must work 50% of weekends during contract
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4 (rarely 1:5 during emergencies)
• 24-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Care for patients with CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors and resections, seizures, TBIs, trauma from shootings/stabbings/MVCs, GI surgeries, and wound care
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS
• Must have telemetry experience, proficient neuro experience, and drip management skills
• Preferred skills: conscious sedation and Level 1 trauma experience
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at University and Methodist Hospitals
• Must be willing to precept students and handle charge nurse responsibilities with training
• Call-ins require making up shifts during pay period or adding shifts to end of contract
• Skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilated patient care, central line care, chest tubes, feeding tube management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, lumbar drains, neuro stepdown care, PICC line management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, IV management, surgical drains, cardiac drip titration, traumatic brain injury care, and wound care/wound vac
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Charting system: Cerner (preferred experience)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• First time travelers accepted
• Indiana residents not accepted for this position
