Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required; will consider Med-Surg RN with ICU and PCU patient experience with additional 2 years
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Work every other weekend per contract with potential for consecutive weekends based on operational needs
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within hospital or affiliate hospitals
• Patient ratios: PCU assignments 1:4, Med-Surg assignments 1:5-6
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required with training and resources provided
• Must be willing to precept and/or have students shadow during assignment
• Travel experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Call-in policy requires makeup shifts during pay period or added to end of contract
• Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, cardiac drip titration, cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV management, heparin protocols, ventilated patient care, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care, and isolation precautions
• Flu vaccine required with medical/religious exemptions only
• 18 months experience minimum required
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Two supervisor references required

Facility:

This healthcare facility features a 26-bed mixed acuity unit with 15 PCU beds and 11 Med-Surg beds, specializing as an advanced pulmonary unit. The facility serves as a teaching hospital and treats patients with high acuity conditions including COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lung transplant patients, tuberculosis, tracheostomies, and stable trach-to-ventilator patients. The unit maintains very high acuity levels and provides specialized care for complex pulmonary and cardiac conditions.
