Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Must be flexible with weekend requirements and able to work 50% of weekends in contract
• Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Patient ratios: 1:5 during days, 1:5-6 during nights and weekends
• Must agree to possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow
• May be required to provide charge nurse coverage with training and resources provided
• Floating is 100% required - may float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within hospital or to affiliate hospitals
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with conditions including GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, ostomies, hernia repairs, skin flaps, significant wounds, and surgical drains
• Handle surgical cases with tubes and drains, TPN, and tube feeds
• Required certifications: BCLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years experience required, Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills include blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, heparin, insulin, surgical drains, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
• Must have IN/Compact license in hand or submitted fingerprint application
• First time travelers accepted
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Call-in policy requires making up missed shifts during pay period or adding to end of contract
• University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at graduation
• 2 supervisor references required

The facility maintains a 31-bed medical surgical unit with 26 rooms and supports a daily census of 31 patients. The hospital provides extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services.
