Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 3x12 or 4x12 schedule options available (36 or 48 hours guaranteed)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• 5S Trauma Stepdown unit caring for multi-system injured trauma patients and surgical patients
• Patient ratios: Floor 1:5, Step-Down Unit 1:3
• Unit has 25 floor beds, 6 step-down beds, 6 pediatric beds (travelers not required to see pediatric patients)
• 2 years RN experience required with 1 year specialty experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if experienced in ICU/Trauma
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, Fit Test, CPI (can be completed with facility)
• TNCC preferred
• Skills required: IV starts, ventilators, telemetry, Level 1 trauma experience, conscious sedation
• Experience with chest tubes, wound vacs, tracheostomy, PEG/feeding tubes preferred
• Must work with stepdown critical drips including amiodarone, cardizem, precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, nitro
• WV or Compact RN license required (pending license acceptable)
• 16-hour orientation provided every other Thursday
• Royal blue/white scrubs required
• Charting system: Cerner
• Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
• Holiday requests limited to no more than 1 of 3 major holidays

This Level 1 Trauma Center is a major teaching hospital and member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH). The facility operates as a short-term acute care hospital with 855 total staffed beds, providing comprehensive trauma and surgical services. The organization utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach and offers extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, social services, and pharmacy support.
