RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work in a major trauma unit treating adult and geriatric patients
• Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• 12 hours of orientation required
• 24-bed unit with daily census of 24 patients
• Float requirement: can be pulled to all other inpatient units (agency pulled first)
• Weekend coverage required, working every other holiday
• Unable to guarantee specific scheduling requests or block scheduling
• 2 years of experience in specialty required
• Travel experience required
• Must live over 65 miles from facility (address on driver's license to site address)
• Neurosurgery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS and NIH
• Must have Louisiana or Compact license in hand upon submittal
• Required skills: Blood product administration, PICC line management, starting IVs, pre/post neurosurgery care, TBI management, orthopedic trauma care, surgical drain management, chest tube care, isolation precautions
• Care for patients with multi-trauma, seizures, GSW, falls, TBI, stroke, sepsis, epidural hematomas, cerebral edema, and orthopedic trauma
• Assist with procedures including craniotomy, spinal fusions, ORIF, muscle flaps, skin grafts, amputations
• Work with specialized equipment including traction, external fixators, PCA pumps, wound vacs, chest tubes, central lines
• May be assigned to "Emergency Team" during emergency events with expectation to stay at facility until event passes
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• 2 manager/supervisor references required for clearance to start
