RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours guaranteed per week with 13-week assignments available
• Patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex up to 3:1 during high census
• Every other weekend requirement
• Float requirement within hospital or to affiliate hospitals
• No call requirement
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required - no exceptions
• Travel experience required - first-time travelers not accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Strong neurological critical care background mandatory
• Experience with ventilators, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Blood product administration and central line care/management experience needed
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management required
• External ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, and post neurosurgery management experience required
• Lumbar drain experience mandatory
• Care of ventilated patients and isolation precautions/PPE use required
• Preferred: Arterial line management experience
• Work with stroke patients, which represents one of the largest patient populations
• Use Epic charting system, Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• Work with special equipment including EVDs, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Navy blue and white scrub requirement
• 24-hour orientation over 2 days or 2 nights
• Cannot work more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week per fatigue policy
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually

Facility:

This comprehensive stroke center specializes in neurological critical care, treating a diverse patient population including strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), subdural hematomas, craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm treatments, seizures, and myasthenia gravis. The 13-bed unit maintains an average daily census of 11-12 patients and offers extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. The facility utilizes advanced neurological monitoring equipment and maintains high standards for specialized care delivery.
