Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg; Additional Notes from VMS= Neuro Surgical

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week over 13-week contract
• 37-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 during days
• Care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Midtown campus (8 miles) and potential float to Deaconess Henderson (11 miles)
• Work three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Minimum two years of strong neuro experience and one travel assignment required
• Trauma level II experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Required certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must pass Basic Dysrhythmia exam
• Skills include NIHSS/dysphagia screening, strong neuro assessments, basic telemetry interpretation, strict I&Os, heparin titration, blood administration, venipuncture, NG tubes, and drain management
• Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health system or agency logos
• May require precepting of students and new hires as this is a teaching hospital
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills essential
• Three call-ins can result in termination
