Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg; Additional Notes from VMS= Neuro Surgical - Nights - Deaconess Gateway

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week (48-hour contracts available upon request)
• Weekend option available with requirement to work three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday requirement
• Float requirement within skillset to Deaconess Midtown (8 miles) and potential float to Deaconess Henderson, KY (11 miles)
• 2-hour notice given for cross-campus float assignments
• Mid-shift float within same campus possible
• Patient ratio: 1:5-7 on nights
• 37-bed unit specializing in neuro and neuro-surgical patients
• Care for patients with CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, cerebral angiograms, general medical and psych patients
• Required skills: NIHSS/dysphagia screening, strong neuro assessments, basic telemetry interpretation, strict I&Os, catheter management, heparin drip initiation/titration, blood product administration, venipuncture, NG tubes, drain management
• Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Required certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum experience: Two years of strong neuro experience, one travel assignment, trauma level II experience
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health system or agency logos
• May require precepting of students and new hires
• Associate degree or certificate required
• Three call-ins can result in termination
