Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or weekend option available
• 36 guaranteed hours per week over 13-week contract
• Three weekends required out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday rotation required
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Newburgh campus (8 miles apart) and potential float to Deaconess Henderson, KY (11 miles away)
• 2-hour notice given for cross-campus float assignments
• Patient ratios: Night shift 1:6-7 patients
• 19-bed blended unit (8 designated step-down beds, 11 Med Surg Tele)
• Patient population includes cardiac post-procedure patients, arrhythmias, heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, neuro patients with CVA and seizures, detox/CIWA, sepsis, DKA, and respiratory distress
• Required skills: Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, post heart cath care, heparin initiation/titration, NIHSS/dysphagia screening, strong neuro assessments, sepsis care, chest tubes, CPAP/Optiflow, PIV insertion
• Must pass telemetry tests upon hire
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Required certifications: Active compact nursing license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum experience: 2 years Cardiac/Neuro Med Surg Tele plus 1 travel contract OR 5 years Cardiac/Neuro Med Surg Tele if no travel experience
• Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health system or agency logos
• Teaching hospital environment may require precepting students and new hires
• Associate degree or certificate required
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
